Required - Healthy volunteers
Perceptual distortion - eksperimentelle undersøgelser til at fremme forståelsen for kroniske
ansigtssmerter
(Perceptual
distortion - a new approach to better
understand
chronic facial pain)
Criteria: • 18 years or older • No systemic Illnesses • No current / diagnosed orofacial pain conditions / not taking pain killers • Not allergic to local anesthetic agents • No history of epilepsy • No metal implants, pacemaker in the body • Not pregnant Aim:
To study the neuromodulatory effect of repetitive
transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on perceptual distortion of face
(perceived change in size) induced experimentally by local anesthesia.
This study consists of only one session of 2.5-3 hours duration.
Changes in the perception of face will be induced experimentally by
administering local anesthesia to one side of the face. After which, stimulation
will be given using rTMS on the area of ”‹”‹the head corresponding to cerebral
cortex that controls the sensory function of the face to modulate the perceived
changes. The procedure itself is painless and the perceived changes will return
back to normal in 1.5- 2 hours.
Compensation:
Participants will receive 150 DKK/hour
as a compensation for their time after the completion of experiment. Contact: If you are interested, please contact Simple Futarmal
